a healthy, tasty and delicious summer cooler drink made with sesame seeds and jaggery. This drink is originally from Dakshin Kannada, karnataka.
Sesame seeds are known for their nutritive, preventive and curative properties and to talk with historic knowledge it is one of the first oil seed known to man kind. They are very rich in antioxidants (so,ladies start using sesame seeds regularly in food!!)
And to make this drink more healthier i have used jaggery in place of white sugar (tastes best if jaggery is added)
Akshira recipe
serves : 2
Ingredients (1 cup-250 ml)
Sesame seeds - 4 tbsp, soaked for 2-3 hrs
Milk - 1 cup
Jaggery - 3-4 tbsp, finely crushed
Cardamom - 2 finely crushed
Method
- In a mixed, add soaked and drained sesame seed, jaggery powder and 1 tbsp milk and grind it to fine paste
- Now add this paste to a juicer or blender along with remaining milk and blend well
- Top with some ice cubes while serving
