Sabsige soppu rotti recipe
Serves : 5-6 medium sized rottiIngredients ( 1 cup-250 ml)
Rice flour - 2 cups
Sabsige soppu / Dill leaves - one and half cup, finely chopped
Onion - 2 medium sized, finely chopped
Coriander - half cup, finely chopped
Green chillies - 5-6 medium sized, finely chopped
Cumin seed - 1 tsp
Channa dal / Split peas - 1 tsp
Oil - quarter cup
Water - one-to-one and half cup
Salt to taste
Method
- Boil the water to 100 degree Celsius or until it develops rolling bubbles.
- In a large pan, spread the rice flour, add salt to taste and add the boiling water directly on to the rice flour and mix immediately
- Now add chopped sabsige soppu, onion, coriander, chillies, cumin seeds, channa dal, mix well and make dough. Don't add anymore water to the mixture, moisture in onion is enough to make smooth dough
- Knead well to make good composition. Divide the dough into equal 5-6 medium sized balls.
- Now bring a griddle to heat on high flame
- Take a rolling board and place a plastic cover on it and apply 1 tsp oil and spread evenly on cover. Apply little oil to your right palm as well to avoid sticking of dough
- Place a dough ball on cover and press it with your fingers evenly spreading to a flat bread. you can apply some more oil while spreading. make sure the dough doesn't crackle at the sides. Don't make the bread too thin or too thick.
- Now slowly remove dough spread from cover starting from the outer part and place on the hot griddle.
- when one side is partly cooked then flip it and apply 1 tsp oil (here oil is optional)
- after the other side is cooked flip it again and apply 1 tsp oil (here also oil is optional)
- Roast the rotti evenly on both side well. By this time your kitchen is filled with nice aroma of sabsige soppu!
- Make the other rottis in the same way.
Serve the sabsige soppu rotti hot or you can stack them up in casserole and serve them later warm
Taste this sabsige soppu rotti with coconut chutney, butter, curd or fresh ghee ( i love to have them hot with ghee or butter (: )
