Palak aloo curry - Learn how to make delicious spicy healthy palak aloo curry with restaurant taste in simple steps. This is a quick variation to the restaurant style palak paneer.
I didn't have paneer at home so just made little variations and added aloo with fragrant spices
Palak considered the most healthy food with low in calories and high in vitamins. Palak curries are popular and favorite dish in India.

Palak aloo recipe
Serves : 3-4Ingredients
Palak/Spinach - 200 gms
Potato/Aloo - 2 medium sized
Onion - 1 medium to large, chopped
Tomato - 1 medium to large, chopped
Green chilli - 10 whole
Garlic - 5 cloves
Ginger - 1 inch
Grated coconut - 1 medium cup
Cinnamon - 2 inch
Clove - 4
Oil and Salt
Method
- Rinse palak/spinach thoroughly in running water and chop coarsely
- Wash potatoes, peel and chop into 1 inch cube
- In a wok/frying pan bring 2 tbsp oil to heat add chopped onion and saute till golden brown.
- add garlic, green chilli, cardamom and clove and saute for a min
- add tomato and fry till they are mushy
- then add palak/spinach and fry for 5 mins or until raw smell of palak/spinach goes away, then bring down from flame and let it cool
- after palak mixture got cooled down add it to a mixer or food processor and make fine paste
- Now in another mixer add grated coconut and chopped ginger with little water and grind to fine paste.
- Now in a pressure cooker heat 2 tbsp oil and toss in potatoes and fry for a min or two
- Then add in both palak paste and coconut paste along with 1 medium cup of water and salt to taste and pressure cook for 1 whistle or 5 mins.
Note : You can give a touch of lemon juice while serving
