Chilli fry! hmmm! must be a hot extra spicy delicious dish! yess! it is a delicious, spicy but not extra spicy food. because it is not the regular small green chilli that is been used here, it is a mildly spiced large green chilli, which is available is most of the grocery stores and supermarkets.
A damn easy and quick recipe to go along with chapati, poori, dosa or just as side for lunch or dinner meal.
Chilli fry is one of my family's recipe. i learnt it from my paternal aunt (i call her atthe, in kannada). She is a very good cook, there are lot best recipes of her saved in my diary, will share it with you all soon.
So..here goes a simple delicious SPICYLICIOUS but not TOO spicylicious quick to go chilli fry recipe!

Chilli fry recipe
Serves : 2-3
Ingredients
Large green chilli - 7-8 mildly spiced, roughly chopped
Mustard seed - 1+1 tsp
Fenugreek seed - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Turmeric - a pinch
Oil - 1 1/2 to 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Method
- In a mortar and pestle, crush 1 tsp mustard seed and 1 tsp fenugreek seed coarsely
- In a frying pan/ wok, bring oil to heat, toss in mustard seeds, after it splutters, add curry leaves, chopped chillies and fry for 2 mins
- add turmeric powder, salt, mix well and fry for another 2 mins
- now add crushed mustard and fenugreek powder, mix well and cover the lid and cook in sim for about 3 mins
Serve hot with hot chapatis or pulkhas!
