A quick upma recipe using jeera - a healthy spice. upmas are always simple, easy and quick food that can be prepared in less than 15 mins. This is an absolute bachelor food with very little ingredients.
This can be made as snack during coffee or tea time. or it can also be made as quick breakfast item.
use of jeera and pepper powder makes this dish more tasty and aromatic.
Jeera upma recipe
Serves : 2Ingredients
Rava (medium) - 1 small cup
Green chilli - 1, finely chopped
Curry leaves - 1 strand
Grated coconut - 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp, finely chopped
Mustard seeds - 1tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Jeera powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - half tsp
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Method
- In a frying pan, dry fry rava on medium flame for about 7-10 mins or till you see rava changes its color to bright white. Keep aside
- Now in a wok/ frying pan, bring 2 tsp oil to heat, add mustard seeds, after mustard seeds splutters add jeera, curry leaves, chopped chilli and fry for a min
- add 3 small cups of water (rava and water ratio - 1:3) and salt to taste and boil for 5 mins
- Then add rava stirring continuously. close the lid and cook for 5 mins on sim
- Switch off the flame, add grated coconut and finely chopped coriander, stir well and serve hot
